Partnership work with Sheffield University

The University of Sheffield has produced a new online course to help health and social care workers support victims of domestic violence. This is a course that Apna Haq has contributed to as an organisation Рalongside a selection of Sheffield institutions, including  police officers, solicitors, GPs and academics Рand aims to provide Continuing Professional Development to workers in the health sector.

The course is free to sign up for and is a social learning experience comprising of articles, video interviews with experts, quizzes and discussions. Futurelearn courses frequently have hundreds of learners enrolled on them and offer an unprecedented opportunity for discussion with professionals from across the world – as well as the opportunity to learn from academics at the School of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Sheffield.

The course looks at topics such as identifying gender-based violence, forms of abuse, the impacts of domestic abuse, recognising the signs of abuse and working in partnership with the individuals and organisations helping to support victims.
